Job Description

The Quantity Surveyor (QS) will undertake responsibilities which include both contractor’s and consultant’s quantity surveying. The primary objective of the Quantity Surveyor is the successful cost management of multiple construction projects from the inception stage to final completion. This role will involve working closely with the designers and project managers on a variety of construction works.

The ideal candidate will have significant relevant experience with preparing subcontractor and supplier contracts using the FIDIC suite of contracts for civil, infrastructure and building works.

The Quantity Surveyor will report to the Cost Manager.

• Administration of financial and contractual matters relating to contractors, subcontractors and suppliers, including payments, valuations, claims resolution and final accounts.
• Tracking and reporting of cost expenditure and cost reconciliation.
• Monitoring allocation of costs into the construction accounting software for adherence to the budget cost head framework for each relevant Project.
• Drafting and analysis of contractor packages.
• Procuring and analysing major material quotations from local, regional and international suppliers.
• Value engineering and viability assessments.
• Working closely with Senior Management on risk assessments and fair allocation of risk.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering.
• Min. 8 – 10 years’ contracting experience within the civil, infrastructure and/or building sector (experience with MEP contracts will be beneficial)
• Strong English communication skills (written and verbal) essential, Arabic desirable.
• Strong working knowledge of Construction Contracts (FIDIC experience an advantage)
• Excellent IT skills (Microsoft suite, AutoCAD and Construction Accounting Software)
• Attention to detail
• A history of working abroad with large multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary teams is preferred
