Job Description

The Quantity Surveyor is a core member of the construction supervision team. He supports Project Managers with the financial administration of supervision contracts. The jobholder checks contractors’ payment applications and verifies the amounts claimed by contractors against supplier invoices and measurement records. He reviews quantities executed by contractors against drawings, measurement sheets and invoices for discrepancies and differences.

• Assist the Planning Engineer and the Project Manager in reviewing the work program and submittals proposed by the contractor
• Read and understand the contents and details of the bill of quantities for each project as well as the preamble to the bill of quantities, and any other documents relating to payments to the contractor
• Discuss and attempt to reach mutual agreement with the contractor on rates for new work items that are not covered in the Bill of Quantities and submit rates to the Project Manager for review
• Review the specifications, Bill of Quantities and drawings and advise the Project Manager of any differences and/or discrepancies in Contract documents for methods of measurements, at the beginning of every project
• Inspects works in coordination with the Site Engineer according to Request for Inspection forms submitted by contractor
• Review quantities executed by contractors against drawings, measurement sheets and invoices for discrepancies and differences
• Assist in monitoring contractor’s work on site and in maintaining daily site diary
• Support in monitoring the contractor’s daily activities and resources allocation against plan
• Support the Associate Project Manager in developing periodic project progress reports, as needed
• Prepare monthly cost reports, as needed
• Ensure that As Built drawings, O&M manuals and warranty certificates are provided accurately by the contractor
• Support in the preparation of commissioning reports and snag lists during the Handover and Defects Liability Period
• Implement corporate policies and procedures

Requirements:

• Omani nationality
• Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying
• 5 years of relevant Cost Consultancy experience in Pre and Post Contract Management.
• Chartered Professional Engineering certification or equivalent is preferred
