Job Description
- Overall supervision of the mechanical team.
- Â Technical competence of Mechanical engineering personnel.
- Â Technical competency in rotating and static equipment.
- Â Forecast requirement for Mechanical engineering resources and allocate those resources.
- Â Mechanical design integrity of work scope and maintenance of standards.
- Â Identify instrument/electrical software necessary to enable mechanical group to function effectively.
- Â Aware of latest technology including the latest mechanical tool and software.
- Inter discipline communication development.
- Â Mechanical group communication development.
- Â Prepare mechanical manhour estimate to perform project tasks.
- Â Check compliance with Alliance QA/safety/environment goals.
- Â Promote Alliance culture in instrument/electrical engineering group.
- Â Manage mechanical design and any design changes within budget and schedule.
- Â Evaluate new technology advancements against existing design standards and revise where applicable.
- Â Promote cost reduction and productivity enhancing initiatives.
- Â Promote career development within the group.
- Â Identify and review new technology development which could be applicable in providing more cost effective facilities.
- Â Technical supervision of project designated mechanical engineers in the execution of their duty.
- Â Prepare weekly mechanical progress and expenditure reports on a project specific basis.
- Â Benchmark mechanical design and identify areas of improvement.
- Â Mentoring the mechanical engineers in the department.
- Â Multi discipline technical coordination and interaction.
- Â Consistently completes work within budgeted hours.
- Â Proactive in transferring skills and sharing knowledge.
- Â Competently prepares proposals and reports.
- Â Contributes to technology selection studies, process simplification, customized standards, value engineering constructability review, 3D CAD review and cost estimates.
- Â Quality Assurance – Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system relevant to the BU, etc
- Â Safety – Responsible for personal safety safe working practices for the BU, etc. Understand and follow OH&S procedures.
Requirements:
- Â Experience with the development of layouts for new facilities
- Â Experienced in the specification, evaluation and documentation of equipment.
- Â Work is performed in accordance with broad technical guidelines and with minimal supervision.
- Â Ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritisation of work to achieve them.
- Â Vast experience with design of pumps, compressors and process equipment. (Experience in turbines will be an asset).
- Â Experience in brown fields & asset services type project / contracts.
- Â Experience with interface between MTOs and procurement system.
- Â Experience with tender package preparation.
- Â Experience in Installation, Construction and Commissioning.
- Â Understand key equipment fabrication and maintenance requirements.
- Â Experience in process plant layout.
